Protocol is a daunting word and most equate it with an endless array of rules.  However, true protocol or etiquette is about respect, decency and courtesy.  As with anything else in life, it can be learned and mastered.  But it is an ever-evolving process which changes with the times.  These days, a protocol expert is further required to be “protocol technician,” as global communication is instantaneous and requires action and timely decisions. 

Duties of an International Protocol Specialist

Tireless dedication, foresight, technical knowledge and attention to detail are the essential skills required.  A comprehensive understanding of history and global affairs along with a heightened sensitivity to what will now be expected (not just what worked in the past) as times and expectations are fluid.
