The well written Thank-You note for all occasions!
THE WELL-CRAFTED THANK-YOU-NOTE
Christmas has passed and now is the time to start writing those Thank-You Cards. It may seem old fashioned but the well-written Thank-You Card is the least one can do to show appreciation for the gifts received.
BEGINNING, MIDDLE & END
Begin by thanking the giver for their gift. In the middle, describe how useful and perfect the gift will be when you…(whatever activity the gift will enhance). The end will be “Thank you again and wishing you all the very best for the coming year.” Sincerely, Marie” Note: A handwritten note, sent via mail, is much better than a typed email message!
MOST IMPRESSIVE WHEN INTERVIEWING FOR A JOB POSITION
In one instance, where I interviewed an extremely polished college graduate, I was utterly impressed when, on completion of his interview, he went to his car and retrieved a beautifully written Thank-You-Card and left it at the Front Desk! Yes, he did get the job!
THE VALUE TO YOU
Even if that seems a little extreme, the value to you of writing a “timely” Thank-You Card is that it will make a strong impression and may be the deciding factor in being chosen from candidates who are equally or even more qualified for the job.
DON’T PROCRASTINATE!
Whether the purpose is a thank-you for a Christmas gift or after a job interview, it should always be timely, within forty-eight hours…not three months later!
THANK YOU!
